INEC Postpones Presidential Elections to February, 23


The 2019 presidential election has been postponed, can confirm.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced the decision.

In a statement read to the nation on early hours of Saturday 16 February, INEC Chairman said that the Presidential elections have been postponed to February, 23, and the governorship and state assembly elections postponed to March 9.

Several state officials had reported problems regarding logistics and distribution of sensitive materials for the elections.

Observers have said that this is a huge embarrasment to the nation. INEC Chairman could not take questions from journalists regarding reasons for the postponement. INEC had more than three years to prepare for these elections.
